Gainesville Commissioner Bryan Eastman, Marion County Civil Rights Leaders Back Antione Fields in HD 21

OCALA, FL — Antione Fields, Democratic candidate for Florida House District 21, announced new endorsements from Gainesville City Commissioner Bryan Eastman, State Representative Dotie Joseph, and longtime Marion County civil rights leaders Loretta and Whitfield Jenkins, both former presidents of the Marion County NAACP.

The endorsements prove Fields is building support across both sides of House District 21, which includes communities in Alachua and Marion Counties. Eastman’s endorsement adds a key Gainesville voice behind Fields’ campaign, while Loretta and Whitfield Jenkins bring deep civil rights and community credibility in Fields’ hometown of Ocala.

“My personal support goes to Antione Fields,” said Gainesville City Commissioner Bryan Eastman. “I’ve been impressed by his work on the ground, his commitment to progressive values, and his experience working in the Legislature.”

Fields also earned the support of Loretta and Whitfield Jenkins, respected Marion County civil rights leaders who have both served as presidents of the Marion County NAACP.

“We are proud to support Antione Fields for State Representative,” said Loretta and Whitfield Jenkins. “Antione knows this community, understands the challenges families are facing, and has the courage to fight for the people of House District 21.”

Rep. Dotie Joseph, a former House Minority Leader Pro Tempore, also endorsed Fields. Fields previously served as Joseph’s legislative aide, where he gained firsthand experience working in the Florida House and helped advance multiple pieces of legislation that became law, including elements of Florida’s historic 2021 criminal justice reform package, measures to address health disparities, and protections to help survivors document violations of protective orders.

“I am honored to support Antione Fields for State Representative,” said Rep. Dotie Joseph. “Antione has the experience, integrity, and heart to serve the people of House District 21. I know he will be a strong voice for working families, justice, voting rights, healthcare, and public education in Tallahassee.”

Fields said the endorsements reflect the kind of district-wide coalition his campaign is building across Gainesville, Ocala, and every community in between.

“This campaign is for everyone who is tired of leaders who play it safe while working people are struggling to survive,” said Fields.

“I grew up in Ocala, I’ve organized across this state, and I’ve seen what happens when politicians answer to corporate lobbyists instead of the people they were elected to serve. That’s why I’m refusing corporate PAC and lobbyist money. You cannot fix a broken system while being funded by the same special interests that profit from it.”

Fields is running as a bold progressive focused on lowering costs, expanding access to healthcare, defending public education, protecting voting rights, strengthening labor protections, and taking on corporate influence in Tallahassee.

“From Gainesville to Ocala, we are building a campaign rooted in the work, grounded in progressive values, and ready to fight for people who have been told to wait, settle, or accept less,” Fields continued. “I’m proud to have the support of leaders who understand that this moment demands courage.”
